12/19/2023 0 Comments Starlet gt cluster diagram![]() Apparently, I can't wire worth a #, I have something pinched somewhere and potentially several of the gauges tapped into the wrong wires. if you take them off, within a minute or so it stumbles and dies. If you jump start it, it will stay running as long as you leave the jumper cables on. I revved the car up a bit to see if i could get the voltmeter to budge off of 8 (when it had been charging fine all afternoon), and the car started to stumble and stutter, so i shut it off. I'm sure that's something preprogrammed by Autometer, but why 16001? why not just 16000? To add insult to injury, i pulled the car back into the garage the other day, and the gauges completely wigged out, tach started jumping around, fuel level gauge was rising, and the gauges then started changing colors (they do that.just usually when i push the button to make them do that). the gauges work (mostly), speedo doesn't work (i'm sure i know why), my wideband on the a-pillar only widebands intermittently.my fuel level gauge doesn't budge, and the car is positively convinced it has 16001 miles. I know that 99+ switched to electronic speedo, and that's probably part of my problem. ![]() It's for ALL years of SN95, so the wire colors for my gauge cluster are apparently different than what the book tells me. Signify’s Philips Hue bridge is another solution, but it’s generally limited to supporting Philips Hue smart bulbs and accessories. It can also wirelessly control those bulbs, including dimming them by rotating the knob. Lutron’s Aurora Smart Dimmer prevents a conventional toggle switch from shutting off the power to any Philips Hue smart bulbs that connected to the switch. But to do that, the smart switch you buy must have some way of connecting to your home network (which explains why Bluetooth smart switches can’t talk to smart speakers). There are a few exceptions to this rule, so check the documentation accompanying whichever smart switch you decide to buy before you install it.Ĭontrol protocol: You’ll undoubtedly want to control your smart lighting with your smartphone or tablet, and most people will also want to turn lights on and off with voice commands spoken to a smart speaker, such as an Amazon Echo or a Nest Hub. This typically means that you’ll also need to buy a companion switch or switches for the other end(s) of the circuit. If more than one switch controls that load-switches on opposite sides of a room, for example-then you’ll need to replace it with a multi-pole (aka 3-way) smart switch. Single- or multi-pole: If the light you wish to control is connected to just one switch, then you’ll need to replace it with a single-pole smart switch. GE Cync and Lutron Caséta are among the few smart switches that don’t depend a neutral wire. ![]() Most smart switches depend on the presence of a neutral wire to supply energy to their radios, but many homes built prior to the 1980s don’t have a neutral wire in every box. If you don’t have a neutral wire, Lutron’s Caséta smart dimmer and the GE Cync Dimmer (3-wire version) are among the few smart switches that do not require one. If you’re not sure if there’s a neutral wire at the location you want to install a smart switch, this how-to story will help you figure it out. While all homes have neutral wires, many older homes don’t have a neutral wire in every box. Smart switches have radios that must be constantly powered, and the neutral wire is usually what supplies that juice. Neutral wire requirement: Many smart switches and dimmers require the presence of a neutral wire-in addition to line (power from the circuit-breaker panel), load (power to the light to be controlled), and ground wires-in the electrical box inside the wall. Here’s what you need to know in roughly the order you’ll need to decide. You’ll need to make a raft of decisions before you choose which smart switches to install in your home, and your choices will be influenced by everything from the type of wiring in your walls to what flavor of smart home system you have now or plan to install later. starter kit, $30 for 3.3-ft.What you need to know when shopping for smart dimmers and switches Works with Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Google Assistant, Cortana and IFTTT Works with Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT ![]() ![]() Works with Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT That's a fair price for a solid foundation that you can build on whenever Lutron stuff goes on sale. Now that so many people listen to music thru headphones with their smartphone, binaural recordings may come back. I've always meant to explore that further, but after learning about interaural crosstalk with speakers I never really got back to it. When I played it back through headphones, before the guitar part even started, the rustling noise from me grabbing for the guitar sounded so real that I jumped up and took off the phones, thinking someone else was in my house, before I had a chance to think. That’s what my pals said at the start of the Elton John open-air concert near Geneva, Switzerland this week-end (July 2002).I once (1983) put a clay flower pot (roughly a 7 inch diameter which tapered toward the bottom) on my coffee table (probably on a folded towel or ? to reduce table bounce acoustics), put an omni-directional Radio Shack electret condenser mic on each side of the pot, such that the diaphrams would be about where an ear would be if the pot was a head, aimed the mics slightly outward - a relatively sloppy setup, then hit the record button on a little cassette recorder, grabbed my acoustic guitar and played it a bit. “You’re going to try recording with those in your ears! We wrote more about nanoparticles and the concerns around them here, but the gist is that if nanoparticles were absorbed into the skin that would be a reason for legitimate health concerns. Still, it's white and disturbing enough to use Zinc Oxide nanoparticles more and more often. Pinnell, it's slightly less white than TiO2. It leaves a disturbing whitish tint on the skin, although, according to a 2000 research paper by Dr. It's also often used to treat skin irritations such as diaper rash.Īs for the disadvantages, Zinc Oxide is also not cosmetically elegant. So much so that Zinc Oxide also counts as a skin protectant and anti-irritant. It's also highly stable and non-irritating. It protects against UVB, UVA II, and UVA I almost uniformly, and is considered to be the broadest range sunscreen available today. The first main difference is that while TiO2 gives a nice broad spectrum protection, Zinc Oxide has an even nicer and even broader spectrum protection. It's definitely one of the best UV-filter agents we have today, especially in the US where new-generation Tinosorb filters are not (yet) approved. The English translation is, so far it looks like sunscreens with nanoparticles do stay on the surface of the skin where they should be.Īll in all, Titanium Dioxide is a famous sunscreen agent and for good reason, it gives broad spectrum UV protection (best at UVB and UVA II), it's highly stable, and it has a good safety profile. A 2009 review article about the safety of nanoparticles summarizes this, "to date, in-vivo and in-vitro studies have not demonstrated percutaneous penetration of nanosized particles in titanium dioxide and zinc oxide sunscreens". But do not panic, these are concerns under investigation. Once absorbed they might form unwanted complexes with proteins and they might promote the formation of evil free radicals. The main concern with nanoparticles is that they are so tiny that they are absorbed into the skin more than we want them (ideally sunscreen should remain on the surface of the skin). The itsy-bitsy Nano-sized particles improve both spreadability and reduce the whitish tint a lot, but unfortunately, it also introduces new health concerns. The cosmetic industry is, of course, really trying to solve this problem and the best solution so far is using nanoparticles. Sunscreens containing Titanium Dioxide are often hard to spread on the skin and they leave a disturbing whitish tint. The disadvantage of Titanium Dioxide is that it's not cosmetically elegant, meaning it's a white, "unspreadable" mess. Regular sized Titanium Dioxide also has a great safety profile, it's non-irritating and is pretty much free from any health concerns (like estrogenic effect worries with some chemical filters). Its protection is very good between 290 - 350 nm (UVB and UVA II range), and less good at 350-400 nm (UVA I) range. ![]() Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499)Īnyway, it doesn't matter if it reflects or absorbs, Titanium Dioxide is a pretty awesome sunscreen agent for two main reasons: it gives a nice broad spectrum coverage and it's highly stable.
